If I worked with you, what would it look like?
- We have an initial interview where we each get a feel for working as a team.
- We decide to work together.
- Usually, we set up 3 half-hour phone appointments each month.
- You call me at our scheduled appointment times.
- We work to help you see your situation and yourself clearly. If you feel stuck, we come up with steps that fit into your life to get you moving.
- As you get a clear picture of what kind of work excites you, a meaningful dialogue will develop between us. You'll see your projects, your job, your life and yourself in ways you hadn't before. You'll realize the ways you've been working against yourself. Your path will come into view. You'll be inspired to think up new ideas and strategies. You'll try new stuff.
- I will listen to what you say and don't say. You and I will have insights about where you are and about where you are going. I'll support you, challenge you, act as a touchstone, and inspire you in creating the kind of life that makes you laugh, smile, and do work that feels like play.
- During and after our partnership, you'll grow and rediscover who you are. It will be amazing. You might not recognize yourself, but when you look in the mirror, you'll like the person looking back at you.
In what ways might you help me?
I can help you:
- get unstuck
- disengage from the things that drain you at work
- spend less energy at work so that you have more for yourself
- reorient your life around what makes you excited to get out of bed in the morning
- figure out what to do next regardless of if that means planning your exit strategy or rediscovering your love for your work
What is your philosophy about your work?
I believe life shouldn't be hard. People get wrapped up in things that aren't worth their time because they can't find anything better to do or because they are afraid to pick from all the possibilities in front of them. When I was fed up with being safe and playing small, I didn't know what to do. When I got some help to figure out my next steps, I started to laugh more, frown less and remember that life is really, really fun.
My work is about helping people explore and decide what they want. Figuring that out can be tough for a lot of us who were raised to ignore our needs and "be good." Spending your life doing energizing work that has meaning for you affects your outlook on life, your relationships and your health in the most amazing ways! My clients are some of the most intelligent, funny, resourceful and insightful people I have known. The work we do together reminds them of who they are.
Am I alone?
No. A 1997 Lou Harris research poll found that close to 70 percent of people who currently have a job think or are actively looking for a new job at any given time.
What do your clients say about working with you?
"Thank you again for a wonderful call last night. I can't express it in words, but I think you understand... I'm still quite shaken, but SO energized by the thought that next week - heck, even tomorrow or this afternoon - I will be living the person I've been trying to be for so long. Bless you!!!"

"The structure of Krista's work enables me to organize my goals and priorities. Using her unbiased questions, I come up with my own solutions. I recommend coaching to anyone looking for positive change."
— Ann
"Having dealt with the realities of being gay, I wanted to work with someone who could help me evolve in considering what those realities mean to me long-term. Krista provided what I didn't think a counselor/therapist could: help to take the cards that I've been dealt and growing to realize the benefits of the hand I hold and playing the game with appreciation, spirit and new insight."
— John
Is this therapy?
My work is different from therapy. The focus of the coaching relationship is fixed on what's going on with my clients right now. My clients and I look at assumptions and patterns that make them ignore their real needs. Therapy goes into depth about a client's past issues. My clients and I don't deal with past issues and why a person got to be who they are today. That being said, coaching and therapy can be wonderful compliments to one another. It's not uncommon for someone to work with both a coach and therapist simultaneously.
Is working with you like having a good friend?
A friend will usually back off when the going gets tough, and if they don't, it often has adverse consequences for the relationship. I am not invested in what I think my clients should be or do. I ask pointed questions and listen to what my clients say and don't say to help them find what they need.
What are your fees?
I usually work with clients in three 30-minute sessions a month for $250. I also offer two 30-minute sessions a month for $175.
How do I know we'd make a good team?
I invite you to contact me to set up a collaborative interview when we can talk about your situation. Your initial call to me is free (other than any long distance charges you incur), and you are under no obligation of any kind. If it works out, great! If it doesn't work out, at the least you'll learn something about yourself.
